THE WOODLANDS, TX – We wrap up 2022 this weekend, and the forecast is that ‘23 will get a grey and gloomy start. Hopefully the weather won’t presage the year itself. In the meantime, this year will end with some heavy clouds and a chance of rain, but at least the freezing is hopefully behind us for the next 350 days or so.

Clouds, high humidity, and rain might put a damper on your New Year’s plans

We’re already at the height of our cloud coverage for the day, and the skies will get clearer with each passing hour. Mid-afternoon will see our high temperature of 68 degrees, then the mercury will decrease along with the clouds. A slight chance of rain will tag along all night as the humidity remains at near-total levels, but on the whole things should be quiet as we hit our Friday low of 49. Several members of the Woodlands Online team will be at Dosey Doe - The Big Barn tonight catching The Doo Wop Project… why not join in the festivities yourself and pop by our table to say hi?

Saturday will literally end the year with warmth and light. 2022 will spend its last day with increasing temperatures that will settle for a high of 74 in the late afternoon. The degrees will rise as the humidity factor drops at the same time, so most of the day can be enjoyed outdoors under partly cloudy skies with nary a chance of the wet stuff. But come later in the evening, the clouds and slight chances of rain will resume, so play it safe on the roads. At the stroke of midnight we’ll be at our overnight low of 55. There are way too many New Year’s Eve events you might want to attend to list here, so find your fun by perusing our New Year’s Guide here.

Near Year’s Sunday, the first day of the new year, will see a massive influx of clouds as the temperatures rapidly climb back into the upper 70s. Most of the day will be spent in high humidity, increased winds, near-total cloud coverage, and the ongoing threat of some light rains. A perfect opportunity to stay indoors at Margaritaville to toast your favorite football teams.

Now, many of us are off work on the federally observed holiday on Monday – don’t worry, the Woodlands Online Weather crew will be at full force – but unfortunately it looks like your extra day off might be best kept indoors with raging thunderstorms doing their thing outside…

Stay tuned for weather updates from Woodlands Online, and be sure to check us out on Monday for our “Week Ahead” forecast.
