THE WOODLANDS, TX – It’s a new year with a new weather pattern. And while 2023 started gloomy and stormy – where it made it difficult to figure out where the fireworks ended and the thunder began – it’s about to get a whole lot sunnier.

Early thunderstorms will give way to sunny skies

We’ll wrangle through storms throughout most of today and through the night. Around dinnertime, expect a massive increase in the activity that should continue long after you hit the sack tonight. The winds will go from an evening high of a considerable 15 mph and slowly settle down as the hours tick away. We’re already near our high today of 77, and the low will only go down around 15 degrees.

Tuesday, when most of us are back at the office, will see some dwindling morning thunderstorms, but by lunchtime the rains and the near-total cloud coverage will have abated somewhat. We’ll hit a high of a slightly muggy 72, but come sundown, the temperature will drop down into the 40s, presaging a steadily rising pressure system that will give us some drier, sunnier, and crisper weather.

The sunny skies on Wednesday will warm us up pretty quickly into the low 70s, made a bit cooler by some brisk winds that will peak in the early afternoon. The pressure system will make things a tad funky briefly in the afternoon – with an uptick in clouds and winds for a bit – but all should be still and clear for the evening to encourage you to go out for a walk or maybe a drive with the windows down as we head for another low in the 40s.

Thursday will be more of the same, with sunny skies and dropping humidity. The clouds and winds will both be on their best behavior, which makes this a day you might have to force yourself from playing hooky. We’ll almost hit the 70s for our high, and once again our low will hit around 45.

Friday will be just like the day before, only slightly better. Fewer chances of light rains and clouds, a high of 71, and sunny skies with slightly rising humidity will make it hard pressed for you not to wish you were outdoors. As our overnight low decides to keep in the mid 50s, you might just be hearing some rain on the weekend horizon…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
