THE WOODLANDS, TX – Brace yourselves; winter came and it looks like it’s already checking its watch and eyeing the exit door. For this weekend, things will look positively and gloriously springlike instead of dead-of-winter.

Minimal clouds and cool temps make for a Shangri-La Woodlands

This morning we’ve been steadily creeping out of the 30s, through the 40s, currently in the 50s, and prepping to settle for a high of 62 in the mid-afternoon. Our brisk winds out of the northwest have been making this jacket weather, but as afternoon progresses, the winds will die down along with the thermometer, and though we’ll soon enough be back into the 40s shortly after sundown, the stillness in the air will make it perfect outdoor-walking weather. This Friday the 13th will be decidedly lucky for you if you venture out to a place like Dosey Doe - The Big Barn to catch Texas native Mike Donnell (with Bubba Westly) taking the stage.

Our ‘overnight’ low will be 35; the quotation marks are because we won’t hit that low until sunrise Saturday morning. The current high pressure system will start a downhill trend, rising the temperature quickly into the mid-50s under mostly sunny skies and not a lick of rain in the forecast. While there will be another precipitous temperature drop in the later afternoon and evening, it won’t be nearly as frigid as the night before, with a low hitting us in the middle of the night around 47. Keep the holiday spirit going by celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year and Lion Dance performances at The Woodlands Children’s Museum.

With the Sunday sunrise comes a dearth of clouds that will eventually blot out three-quarters of the sky. A significant spike in winds coming out of the south and gusting up to 15 mph practically demands that you grab your kites and hit the parks. The rising dew point and still-dropping pressure will give us a warm high of 75 and then a late afternoon/early evening/overnight range of temperatures that won’t leave the 60s. Get breezy with the Margaritaville Lake Conroe Wine Tour that transports you – literally – to three different wineries in the area.

Enjoy it while it lasts, because there may be some of the wet stuff coming on Monday…
