THE WOODLANDS, TX – Today is the first day of spring, but you may not have felt like it when you woke up this morning to frigid temperatures. Amazingly, though you had to defrost the ice off your windshield today, for most of the rest of the week our lows will be about 30 - 40 degrees higher than last night. Winter will definitely be a memory as we experience highs in the 80s.

It’s about to get a whole lot warmer

One constant for most of this week will be the clouds; we’ll have partly sunny skies at best as the white-and-grey stuff covers us from horizon to horizon. Today, we’ll hit our high of 58 by the late afternoon and then slowly ease down a few degrees for our low of 51. As the pressure drops, our humidity will skyrocket right along with the dew point. Meaning we’ll be warm and damp – if not outright wet – for most of the week.

Tuesday will see about a 25 - 30 percent chance of rain throughout the day as the clouds and dampness stick around and make things sticky. The winds will peak at about 15 mph around the same time as the high point on the thermometer. Even overnight, the small chance of rain maintains its presence as the low temp hovers in the mid 60s.

On Wednesday, it will be considerably warmer, with full cloud cover throughout most of the day acting as a blanket; the sun will peek out for a bit in the later afternoon, not bringing any relief from the high temperature of 84. In the evening, the chances of rain drop to about nothing for a few hours, but overnight will up the ante a bit as we hit a low in the upper 60s.

Thursday will be warmer and brighter, again with morning clouds and afternoon sun, with a high of 85, a sure sign of spring in the area. Ironically, as the clouds ease in the afternoon, the chances of rain tick up. Our low will be the warmest one yet: 70 early on Friday morning.

As Friday gets underway, so do the storms. Expect a surge of thunder, lightning, and rain that will peek around noon as the temperature struggles to get up to 75, a full ten degrees cooler than the day before. Friday afternoon and evening, however, will see a sudden 180 in the temperature fortunes, and we just might be able to enjoy a near-perfect Saturday…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
