THE WOODLANDS, TX – No lie, it’s been very wet and uncomfortable over the past couple of days as we approached Easter weekend. While many of the planned Good Friday outdoor events have been canceled, postponed, or moved indoors, the good news is things will look a lot rosier – and sunnier – for the rest of the weekend.

Our gnarly rains will slowly go away

We’re nearly at the peak of the precipitation for the day; a few more hours of rain-and-flood warnings, and then we’ll start to dry out. The winds will also cut in half to about only 5 mph, but the remaining humidity in the air and the high cloud coverage will make our high of 53 feel even chillier. Stay warm, dry, and entertained at Dosey Doe - The Big Barn as they present a dinner / music show with the amazing John Berry.

Though our rain chances go down overnight, they won’t disappear completely, and it’s still a statistical coin toss on whether or not the wet stuff will continue while we sleep. There will barely be a transition from our high temperature today to our low temperature tonight.

On Saturday, between the complete cloud coverage, high humidity, high pressure, and moderate dew point, we’ll keep in the 50s until just before noon, when we’ll experience a sudden surge in temps and will hit our high of 72 around 4 p.m. The chances of rain are still pretty good throughout the morning, but it should get clearer (but no less grey) as the temperature rises. Rain or shine, the City of Shenandoah assures us that the Montgomery County Safety Expo will still go down at Woodforest Bank Stadium. Overnight, we’ll get back down into the upper 50s under still, windless, hazy skies.

Easter Sunday will dawn under the same cloud coverage. Now acting as a blanket and trapped in by the high humidity that won’t go away, the temperature will shoot up through the 50s and 60s in short order and settle for a lunchtime high of 75. Fortunately, it seems like the rains will still be held at bay, so we can enjoy some outdoor activities that were perhaps denied us on Friday and Saturday. Maybe try out the Starlight Swan Rides happening on the Waterway.

As we come out of the Easter weekend, we may have a wet Monday, but drier and sunnier trends might warm things up for a while…
