We’re in that sweet spot of most of the holiday season being behind us and summer looming around the corner. Here is our weekly list of top 5 things you may want to experience in The Woodlands.

Over at The Woodlands Children’s Museum, Crazy About Critters hosts The Learning Zoo today at 11:00 a.m. Laugh, learn, and get hands-on during an educational animal encounter on stage Included in the price of admission, which is $8 for adults and children 1 year and older.

The Woodlands Institute for Health & Wellness is hosting a Lunch & Learn today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. While enjoying a complimentary, healthy lunch, listen to Dr. Pam O’Connor speak about the nuts and bolts of Functional Medicine and the services available at TWIHW.

Texas-based singer/songwriter Ruthie Foster is the winner of The Blues Foundation's 'Koko Taylor Award' for Traditional Blues Female Artist and has just been nominated for her fourth GRAMMY Award. She’s bringing her beautiful blues stylings to Dosey Doe - The Big Barn this evening. Doors and the kitchen open at 6:30 and you get to enjoy a delicious dinner before she takes the stage to blow your socks off.

Celebrating 18 years, Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is a jewel of the Texas fine arts tour and ranked among the top arts festivals in the country. Set along the scenic banks of The Woodlands Waterway and in Town Green Park, festival guests have the unique opportunity to enjoy a vibrant outdoor art gallery with music, food, and kids’ activities while shopping for art created by fine artists from around the world and nation. Selected artists display unique original artwork ranging across a variety of mediums at the festival. Voted as the best event in The Woodlands, the arts festival is a long-standing springtime tradition for families and locals. Dates and times are: Friday, 1 - 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Children’s Memorial Hermann is the presenting sponsor of the 2023 IRONKIDS Texas Fun Run and Doggie Dash starting at 8:30 a.m. at Northshore Park. The IRONKIDS Fun Run offers young athletes the opportunity to feel the excitement of competition, while enjoying the outdoors and promoting healthy living. Each athlete receives a “Goodie Bag” with a race bib, shirt, and the pride of calling themselves an IRONKID. When each race is complete, competitors earn a finisher medal. The Diaper Dash is for independent crawlers under 2 years, the Toddler Dot Trot is for independent walkers, ages 1-3 years, the half mile for ages 3 - 8 years, and the mile ages 5 - 17 years. Also, new this year, the Doggie Dash will follow the children’s races at 11 a.m. During the Doggie Dash, each leashed, vaccinated dog and their handler have the option to compete in two courses. Enjoy snow cones, arts and crafts, an obstacle course for kids, tour a pediatric transport ambulance, mingle with mascots, get your face painted, meet area pediatricians and check out some pet vendors too. A portion of the proceeds benefit Memorial Hermann Foundation and Operation Keep Pets Alive.
