Owner of Brighton Academy announces Brighton Our World, a new nonprofit spinoff project that lets children help children

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Brandi Watterson, the founder and owner of Brighton Academy, has been working hard going above and beyond the normal early education. After years of providing top-notch preschool classes to Woodlands area tots, she has finally realized her additional dream of starting a nonprofit organization whose sole mission is to provide opportunities for children to help children.
“Back in 2009, when Brighton was just starting, I had three very young daughters of my own, and I was always looking for a way for them to give back to the community, to serve. It was so hard to find them such opportunities at such a young age,and if I did find one, it was hard for them to comprehend that their actions were actually making a difference in the life of someone else.” she said.
Thus was born the concept for what would become Brighton Our World (BOW). The initiative to bring inspiration and opportunity to every child started at a personal, maternal level.
“I wanted to be able to provide opportunities for children to give back to other children,” said Watterson. “I wanted to instill in them a heartbeat of generosity so that they would look beyond themselves and to the needs of others. I wanted to turn BOW into its own official nonprofit organization, and I’m excited to say we’ve done just that.”
The vision of Brighton Our World is to create a world where children understand the value of generosity and are motivated to meet the needs of other children in unfortunate situations. Through various initiatives and campaigns, the organization strives to instill a sense of compassion in children at an early age, and encourage them to develop a philanthropic approach that they can carry with them into adulthood.
BOW’s three main initiatives include:
• Scholarship opportunities that create scholarships for families who need childcare but can’t afford it.
• Curriculum outreach by working alongside schools in impoverished areas so all students can access excellent educational opportunities, regardless of demographics.
• The Chores 4 Change program that teaches children the value of hard work while providing them with the resources to help those around them.
“At BOW, we want to provide inspiration and opportunity to every child, regardless if they’re on the receiving or giving end,” said Watterson. “By impacting the lives of children in our community and around the world, we believe that compassionate children today will be our community leaders tomorrow.”
