THE WOODLANDS, TX – Visit The Woodlands, the official convention and visitors bureau of The Woodlands Township, is offering attraction discounts and hosting a pop-up event at Market Street next week to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week, May 7 - 13. The organization will offer discounts throughout the week as it touts tourism's large impact in The Woodlands, and on May 11 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. it will host a special ‘Popcorn and Postcards’ event for the entire family featuring live music, kid-friendly activities, free popcorn, postcards, and coloring pages.

Mark your calendars for May 7 - 13 at Market Street

“The Woodlands is joining destinations across the country to show solidarity between communities that are celebrating tourism,” said Elizabeth Eddins, executive director of Visit The Woodlands. “This is a great week to focus locally to introduce ourselves to those who may not know us. Market Street is such a fantastic partner. People come from all over the world to visit, and this is one of the main stops.”

Eddins stresses the impact of tourism on The Woodlands. “We are in the hub of Houston and have all accessibility to the greater metropolitan area, but in The Woodlands we’re separate with our own thriving business economy in a relaxing, safe, comfortable, self-contained environment. This is my sixth year doing this job, and The Woodlands is an easy sell when it comes to encouraging people and businesses to come here to check us out.”

In particular, Eddins points out that the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is one of the premiere outdoor amphitheaters in the country. “Performers love playing here; Dave Matthews loves it and also loves riding his bicycle around the area whenever he and his band are playing. Outdoor venues like the Pavilion give people a reason to exhale and take a vacation.”

Eddins also credits TreeVentures as an absolute favorite visiting spot in Houston area, with growing popularity going along with its recent expansion. “For this special week, we’ll be offering coupons to TreeVentures. You’ll need to act soon; only first 50 people will get them!” she said.
