Visit The Woodlands sales director Josie Lewis receives prestigious meetings industry award

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Visit The Woodlands – the official convention and visitors bureau of The Woodlands Township – recently had cause to celebrate when its director of sales, Josie Lewis, was recently awarded Member of the Year for Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Houston Area Chapter.

Each year, MPI’s Houston Area Chapter recognizes a member who has made an “extraordinary personal or professional commitment that contributes to the advancement of the organization and the Houston meetings community.” The organization itself is a premier organization for meeting and event professionals in the Houston area, with more than 100 meeting planners and suppliers as members.

Lewis has been an MPI member for more than five years and began serving on the MPI Houston Area Chapter Board for the 2022-2023 term as the Director of Programs. In this role, she was responsible for coordinating more than seven educational programs that brought top-notch education to meeting professionals and industry suppliers from around the greater Houston region. She found venues for each program, confirmed speakers, developed agendas, marketed the event, and assisted with event execution.

For the 2023-2024 term, Lewis has taken on the role of Vice President of Finance.

“Getting involved in the MPI Houston Area Chapter has given me an incredible opportunity to meet aspirational industry professionals, develop new skills, promote The Woodlands as a great destination for conferences and events, and give back to an industry that I love,” said Lewis. “I am so thankful for this recognition as Member of the Year for MPI’s Houston Area Chapter.”

Lewis received the award during the annual A Night Among The Stars gala, a premier event that honors MPI Houston Area Chapter’s local hospitality industry honorees. This year, the gala was hosted at The Woodlands Resort. The event brought more than 150 meeting planners and industry professionals from around Houston to The Woodlands, providing great exposure for the destination as an excellent location for meetings, conferences, and events.
