THE WOODLANDS, TX – We’re nothing if not optimistic at the Woodlands Online Weather offices, and today is a day that metaphorically we break out the parkas and space heaters. The cause for our celebration is that this is the first work week in the past several where the high temperatures won’t break 100 degrees.

Just ignore the heat index and we won’t break 100 this week

True, we’ll be experiencing highs in the upper 90s, and adding in the humidity will easily take the mercury over the 100 mark each day. And we might be back into the triple digits as early as this Saturday. But we encourage you to enjoy the relatively balmy weather in the meantime.

We’ve enjoyed partly cloudy skies so far today, but bit by bit they’ve been wisping away, so there isn’t too much between us and the sun right now except for a lot of UV radiation, so keep that sunscreen and bottled water handy. The increase in breezes coming from out of the south will help a bit, but they’ll die out later tonight right as we get down into the 80s. Our daytime high of 99 will be offset by a low of 76 under starry skies.

Tuesday will be a brutally sunny day that ironically will be a degree or two cooler than the day before. Again, the breezes will die down as evening hits and we hit another clear night with an overnight low of 76.

On Wednesday, we’ll see a high of yet another degree cooler (‘only’ 97), and even the humidity will play nice and keep the ‘feels like’ temp from getting too much into the hundreds. Some hints of clouds and the barest chances of some rain might work to cool things down a little bit more as we enjoy an identical overnight to the previous couple.

Thursday’s high will be our coolest yet – 96 degrees – and breezes, a rising pressure front, and moderate dew point will all contrive to make this the most bearable Thursday we’ve had in a while, weather wise. As evening approaches, we’ll see a spike in cloud coverage and a slightly higher chance of some brief rain, and overnight you can possibly enjoy some coolness with the AC unit on ‘fan only’ if you’re feeling brave.

The work week will end with a slight turnaround – the high will inch back up to 98, but a dip in the humidity will get our heat index to the lowest yet. A few clouds will dot the skies, but nothing to save you from needing shade in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, as you hit the sack for the weekend, know that you’ll most likely be waking back up to triple-digit highs for the weekend and even beyond…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
