The John Cooper School Athletes Return to Campus to Begin Preparing for the Fall Sports Season
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Cooper athletes hit the ground running this week, with the Cross Country Team meeting early to train.
“It’s really nice to be back at school with all my friends,” said 7th grader Sahej Bedi, who showed up to her first practice at 7 a.m.
Football drills began soon after, followed by Volleyball tryouts and training. Cheerleaders are back in full swing, with practice daily for the rest of the summer, then every day after school. Isabelle and Abigail Guidry are this year’s Cheer Captains.
“I’m really excited for this season,” says Isabelle. “We’ve got a great group of girls.”
These twin sisters are seniors this year, and just completed internships at Memorial Hermann, confirming both of their aspirations to become surgeons.
Marliu Harman, The John Cooper School Cheer Program Head, is always impressed by the excellence in leadership, academics, and overall athletic ability she finds in her cheerleaders each year.
“It’s a highly athletic sport. It’s the dance world, the gymnastics world, and the stunts as well,” says Harman. “We try to focus on their strengths and have fun while we do it!”
