THE WOODLANDS, TX – The City of Shenandoah is in the midst of a number of projects in 2023 that are bringing changes to all areas of the city. The latest two projects have just been announced: the David Memorial Roadway Extension Project and the Vision Park Pond Phase II: Amenity Project.

The David Memorial Roadway Extension Project will extend David Memorial Dr to Conroe’s City limits; the road will ultimately connect to TX-242 and open a new traffic route for local traffic allowing drivers to avoid using IH-45 for their local commutes. It will alleviate the I-45 feeder road congestion during peak hours and create a new evacuation route during natural disasters since the feeder is known to flood in this area. The new road will improve daily commutes for residents in Conroe, Tamina, Oak Ridge North, The Woodlands Township, and Shenandoah, and it will create easier and faster access to major institutional facilities such as the Houston Methodist Hospital, Oak Ridge High School, and commercial establishments. The listed project cost is $5,304,418.10.

The Vision Park Pond Phase II: Amenity Project is kicking off now that Phase I: Excavation has been completed. Phase I consisted of the excavation and expansion of the detention pond. It increased the stormwater storage capacity on the west side of the City by hauling over 92,000 cubic yards of excavated material from the pond to reach the final grade. This phase achieved completion last month at a final construction cost of $934,567.48.

Vision Park Pond Phase II focuses on the amenity aspect of the pond. It consists of the addition of two bridges, a sidewalk that will create a full loop around the pond, a retaining wall block on the south end, and landscaping. The project is estimated to achieve completion by January or February of next year. The estimated final construction cost is $2,234,889.00.
