Winning Week For Dragon Volleyball and Football

VARSITY FOOTBALL

9/14 vs. Greenhill School* • 17-14 W

A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm.

The Dragons finally steered their ship out of the storm Thursday night as they found their first win by beating the Greenhill Hornets 17-14. In a hard-fought game against a greatly improved Greenhill squad, the Dragons dug deep enough to unearth their dreams, dreams that had been buried by weeks of mediocrity.

The Dragons opened the game with a balanced attack driving down the field on 15 plays taking half of the first quarter and ending with a touchdown. The offense was led again by sophomore RB Colton Rhoden who averaged over 14 yards each time he touched the ball. Freshman QB Colson Collins saw his first action of the year and proved up to the task of managing the game for the Dragons throwing the ball well and escaping with his legs when needed. The Dragon defensive unit has been special all year and they again lived up to the billing on Thursday. Numerous playmakers showed up once again led by senior LB Cole Sheppard and junior LB Bryce Weatherholt.

The Dragons go back to work this week as they travel to Arlington to face off with the Oakridge Owls on Friday night.–Coach Daniel Lewis
