The Muddy Trails 5K and Muddy Bowl Crawfish Cook-Off is coming to The Woodlands Feb. 17

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The annual Muddy Trails 5K will take place on Saturday, February 17, at Rob Fleming Park beginning at 3 p.m., and registration for the event is now open.

Muddy Trails 5K is produced by The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department, and is a USA Track and Field (USATF) sanctioned event. The chip-timed five-kilometer (just over three-mile) course winds through the beautiful 1,800-acre George Mitchell Nature Preserve and ends with a festive post-race party featuring live zydeco music and the Muddy Bowl Crawfish Cook-Off.

The event is capped at 550 participants, so early registration is encouraged. The registration fee is $40 and includes finisher medal, participant packet and post-race food and beverage. Participant shirts are available in limited sizes and quantities (Youth Large through Adult 2XL) for $15. Participants must register/purchase the shirt no later than January 19, 2024. Shirts will only be available on race day if inventory permits, and will be $20 if purchasing the day of the race. There will be no race day registration.

The 5K race is open to runners of all abilities and recommended for participants ages 10 and older. Organizers want to stress that the race is not a mud run or adventure race. The event is sponsored by Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation, The Strong Firm, H-E-B, and Faust Distributing.

The Packet Pickup will take place Thursday, February 15, through Friday, February 16, from 12 to 5:30 p.m. each day at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd. Only participants who have pre-registered and paid for Race Day Packet Pickup will be allowed to pick up their packets Race Day morning.

Race results will be posted no later than 8 a.m. Sunday, February 18. Awards will be distributed to participants onsite at approximately 4 p.m. on the day of the event. Awards will be provided as follows: Overall Winner - Male and Female; Overall Masters Winner - Male and Female (40 years and up); Top 3 Male and Female finishers in the following age categories: 14 years and younger, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and up.
