Dragons Wrap Up Regular Season Play In Preparation for Conference Championships

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL

1/30 vs Episcopal High School* • 66-48 L

2/2 vs Awty* • 63-45 W

Coach Matthew Wilson: The boys completed our regular season last week. Our JV capped off their season with two hard-fought victories, beating Episcopal for the first time in over 10 years. Our varsity squad went 1-1 this week to finish 8-2 since New Years Day and clinch a first-place seeding in the SPC tournament. We absolutely cannot wait to compete in the SPC tournament. Our first game is Friday, February 9 at 3:00pm at Houston Christian. Hope to see you there!!

VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL

1/30 at Episcopal High School* • 68-15 L

2/1 vs Duchesne* • 42-34 L

2/2 vs Awty* • 28-20 W

Coach BJ Feuerhelm: What a tremendous way to send out the class of 2024 with a conference win over Awty on Friday night! The girls have worked so incredibly hard throughout this season, and we are showing some good signs despite what some box scores might say. We feel good about the direction we are headed, heading into the SPC championships. We look forward to the opening round on Thursday to see if we can’t start yet another run in tournament play.

VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER

1/30 at Episcopal High School* • 10-0 L

2/2 vs Awty* • 0-0 tie

Coach Fri Engel: We lost against Episcopal and tied Awty this week. The girls keep fighting hard and we are getting closer to our next victory. Ella Chisholm played an amazing game in goal against Awty. We have our last regular season game on Monday against Duchesne. We are starting to get players back from injury and look forward to playing in the SPC championship next week. We will play our first game at home on Thursday!

Coach Bryan Sherman: After a tough game Tuesday, the team bounced back impressively to earn a hard fought 2-1 win against a fantastic Awty team. The win gives us some great momentum as we prepare for SPC tournament play next week.

VARSITY SWIM & DIVE

1/27 at SPC South Zone* at University of Houston

Coach John Vindiola: The Dragon Swim & Dive team competed at the SPC South Zone Championships last weekend. It was a great meet, with some terrific performances all around.

Morgan Robson won the 1M female dive, and Diego Burgos placed 2nd in the boys 1M dive.

Monica Ianeva won both the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Breaststroke. She also earned girls high point honors. Ella Britt brought home 5th place in the 200 IM and 3rd place in the 100 Breast.

Alexander Harris placed 7th in the 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke, and Zachary Sheirr placed 6th in the 500 Free and 8th in the 100 Breaststroke.

The Girls 200 Free Relay (Ianeva, Britt, Kyleigh Jeter, Lexie FitzSullivan) placed 4th.

The Dragons are back in action on Friday and Saturday at the University of Houston pool for the SPC Championships.
