THE WOODLANDS, TX – April showers may bring May flowers, but as we go through the last week of winter, March storming is definitely forming. Starting later tonight, we’ll see some ever-increasing chances of thunderstorms and heavy rains that could last through Sunday and dump up to two inches of rain on the area.

It’s about to get gnarly

For the rest of today, Thursday, it will be cloudy but calm, with the barest chances of precipitation. But as the night progresses, the chances will increase, and it’s pretty much a guarantee that the entire area will be pummeled by thunderstorms with up to a half-inch of rain. Overnight Thursday into Friday, there will be a lull for a bit, but Saturday will be even worse with most neighborhoods getting more than two-thirds of an inch, causing potential flooding due to the already-saturated ground.

Again, the overnight hours might bring a little relief, but plan for an additional half-inch of rain to drop on Sunday all morning long. But as St. Patrick’s Day winds down, so will the rains, and by the time you hit the sack on Sunday night the skies should be much clearer.

Woodlands Online encourages you to exercise caution when driving in the rain. Ensure your windshield wipers are maintained, and avoid anything that looks like a fully covered road. Stay tuned as we bring updates as the weather worsens.
