Sterling Ridge Village Association announces Fishing Festival, Golf Classic, and scholarship winners

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Sterling Ridge Village Association invites people to join them for the 9th annual Fishing Festival for kids, taking place this Saturday, April 27, 9:30 a,m, - 12:00 p,m, at Pepperdale Park.

Whether they are experienced or novices, all children are welcome to come and try their luck. There will be awards for biggest fish and most fish caught in three kids’ age groups, drinks and snacks, plus some great prizes. The Woodlands High School Bass Fishing Team will also be on hand to help out and show the young anglers how to land the biggest they can.

The Fishing Festival is a remarkable event for kids. It was started as a small fishing tournament for residents and has grown every year. The motto at this event is, Leave the park in better condition than we found it. Beyond the chance to have fun and catch a lot of fish, they also take the opportunity to clean up the park and pond. Additionally, the SRVA has announced the second annual Starling Ridge Village Association Golf Classic for Wednesday, July 10, at The Woodlands Country Club – Player Course. This four-person scramble format tournament will benefit The Sterling Ridge Village Elementary Schools and SRVA High School Scholarship Fund.

The Association is looking for both players and sponsors. Many sponsorships include teams. Team registration fees are $1,000 ($250 per individual). Sponsorship opportunities include Platinum Sponsor at $7,500. Gold Sponsor at $5,000, Silver Sponsor at $2,500, Bronze Sponsor at $1,000, and more. The Sterling Ridge Village Association awards several scholarships per year to outstanding local high school students planning to pursue higher education. These scholarships are intended to recognize and encourage a spirit of community involvement and citizenship among high school students residing in the Village of Sterling Ridge.

Seniors in high school that reside in Sterling Ridge that will attend college or a trade school next fall or summer were eligible. Eight deserving students that plan to start their higher education next school year were chosen from many submissions. Each winner will receive $1,500 towards their first-year college expenses. The winners included:
