Investigation Continues into Overnight Fatal Fire in Magnolia

MAGNOLIA, TX -- Overnight, the Magnolia Fire Department responded to a residential fire with possible trapped victims in the 6700 block of South Trace Drive near the intersection of FM 188 and FM 2978.

MFD Station 186 responded with Engine 186 and Ladder 186 followed by apparatus from ESD3, Needham, The Woodlands, South Montgomery County, and Montgomery Fire Departments. Upon arrival, crews found a house heavily involved with fire through the roof. . Engine and Ladder 186 made an aggressive, interior attack to search for the victim. Shortly after making entry, members of Station 186 located the victim, deceased in a bedroom of the home.

A team of Investigators from the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and began their investigation, which is ongoing at this time. The victim is believed to be a 61 year old female resident who was reported to be home alone at the time of the fire. An autopsy will be performed to confirm the victim’s identity and establish the manner of death. The investigation into the cause of the fire will continue.
