Three Entergy Texas leaders receive a prestigious award from Conroe City Council
THE WOODLANDS, TX — After Hurricane Beryl, around 252,460 Entergy Texas customers, mainly in Conroe, lost power. The Category 1 hurricane caused significant damage to 806 poles, 400 transformers, 979 cross-arms, and an estimated 150 miles of downed wire. A dedicated workforce of nearly 2,400 people worked around the clock to safely restore power to all affected communities in Entergy Texas.
Mayor Duke W. Coon and the City Council members expressed their deepest appreciation and gratitude to Entergy for surpassing expectations in their restoration efforts. Councilman Howard Wood was delighted to present a Key to the City to three exceptional individuals who played vital roles in the restoration process.
The prestigious awards were given to:
- Eliecer Viamontes serves as the President and CEO of Entergy Texas, overseeing the company's safe and reliable service, customer relations, resource planning, and charitable efforts. Viamontes's leadership, expertise, and experience were instrumental to the successful restoration operations. Mr. Viamontes was unable to attend the presentation, so Stuart Barrett, Vice President of Customer Service, accepted his award.
- Kenny Muhammad leads the company's engagement with customers and other key stakeholders in the western part of its 27-county service area, including Montgomery County and its Conroe customers. He is responsible for establishing and managing the strategies that enabled the company to meet and exceed customers' expectations during the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
- Corrin Barrow is the Customer Service Manager for Entergy's Conroe service area in Montgomery County. She develops and implements account plans for large commercial and small industrial customers and large metropolitan governmental accounts. Barrow is the main point of contact for customer concerns related to sales and service reliability. Councilman Howard Wood gave the recipients their keys to the City during the City of Conroe's City Council meeting on Thursday, August 22nd.
Councilman Wood expressed his appreciation for Entergy Texas' response to Hurricane Beryl, stating, "It's difficult to anticipate and prepare for damages from severe weather events like Hurricane Beryl. In the aftermath of the destruction, our City's Emergency Management Team and First Responders were challenged by obstructions, including downed power lines. Entergy's team worked diligently with City Officials to address and clear these obstructions. Excellent teamwork and communication were essential. Fostering and maintaining a strong relationship between the City of Conroe and Entergy Texas was crucial in restoration efforts to get our citizens back online. I thank their team for exceeding expectations and helping serve our clients."
