THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Today's Woodlands Online Student /Athlete of the Week, Asher Pressnall comes with a ton of athletic accolades in tow.

However, to be honest, you can be good at however many things you want, but if you have the personality of a snob on steroids thinking you are God's gift to the world, your outwardly talents won't be worth jack-squat. How do others view you? Are you caring? Do you put others before yourself? Do you stick up for those that are less fortunate?

My point? This really cool human being is best described as having strong faith in that with everything Asher is involved in, he will always go by his church's (The Loft Church) motto, "I am second".

Least important, Asher was voted the Texas High School Lacrosse League South Zone Player of the Year. You're wondering what is the criteria for this award. It means the coaches in the Houston area feel that Asher is more valuable to his team than every other player that plays in the South Zone. That's pretty impressive because the Houston area is stacked with excellent players this year.

That's all well and good, and it is impressive but it's the least important thing you'll read about in this article.

Let's get to know Asher Pressnall a little better in this week's WOL Player of the Week...

1. How long have you been playing lacrosse?

I’ve been playing lacrosse for eight years. I was outside playing with some of my buddies and they played lacrosse and I started to mess around with a stick and from there I asked my mom to sign me up for the local youth team. The reason I chose lacrosse over any other sport was that I had the most fun playing it. The physicality and the constant movement were what appealed the most to me.

2. Describe the 2025 TWHS men's varsity lacrosse team and why you enjoy playing for the Highlanders?

The team that we have this year is incredibly special. Everyone has a role on the team. Whether you are a guy on the field for every play or a guy that is getting the bench going, everyone plays a significant role in our success. I'm extremely proud of all the guys that we have. Everyone makes huge sacrifices and puts in hours of work to get us to where we are. A lot of that comes from the impact of our coaching staff. Coach Anthony(Demaio), Nick(Demaio), and Kyle (Berkeley) are perfect examples of hard-working coaches. We would have nowhere near the success that we have had without the help of them. They spend hours watching film, game planning, and putting us in the perfect position to be great. They are great role models and I seriously could not think of anyone else I would rather play for. I love my guys on the team this year.

3. Do you like TWHS?
I love TWHS. Since starting my freshman year at the high school, I’ve loved all the teachers I've had. I really enjoy the hands-on activities that we get to do and how involved the teachers are in athletics and their support towards all the programs.

4. You'll be attending the University of Denver on an athletic scholarship. Do you know what your field of study will be?

I will be studying Business/Finance.

5. What do you hope to be doing after you graduate from UD?

After graduating I hope to find a job in finance.

6. What do you enjoy doing away from school and sports?

I enjoy golfing and hanging out with my friends.

7. Who is your role model for lacrosse?

My role model for lacrosse would probably be Luke Wierman.

8. How supportive is your family in everything you do in your life?

My family is my biggest supporter. They have spent countless hours at the fields with me, traveled all summer long for lacrosse, and they go to every single one of my games. They have always been by my side through everything and I could not thank them enough.

9. If you were given a million dollars and had to pick one charity to give it to, what organization would get it?

I would choose the Wounded Warrior Project. I’m a big believer in supporting the people who fight to keep us safe and believe those affected by combat deserve the best treatment and therapy they can get.

10. Three things' people don't know about you.

I started playing lacrosse in Oklahoma, I didn't start facing off until 7th grade, and I enjoy reading books.

11. What is your favorite song in your phone now? Do you have a favorite group?

My favorite song right now is Tattooed Roses by Treaty Oak Revival. They are probably my favorite group.

12. Your favorite movie of all time?

My favorite movie is Inglourious Basterds.

13. If you were sentenced to death but you were allowed to go on one last date, who would the lucky girl be?

Tate McRae

TWHS Lacrosse Offensive "Coordinator Nicholas Demaio shared his thoughts on Asher...

"Asher has been a huge part of this program for a very long time. The lasting impact he is leaving for The Woodlands lacrosse program is one of leadership, role model, how the game of lacrosse should be played, and work ethic on and off the field. He has shown every kid that shows up to high school games what it takes to play lacrosse at a high level and that’s how I know he will kill it at Denver and leave an impact on that program, too. Asher has showed up every day to practice his senior year still wanting to get better knowing there is always room for improvement. No matter what happens on the field, Asher always finds a solution and powers through it. He will do anything we ask of him on the field and is always adaptable to the circumstances presented to him."

Family sources indicate they knew Asher was going to be a selfless person early on. He was very protective of his little brother (Lucas) and always made sure Lucas was safe. Through the years, no one has messed with Lucas when Asher has been around. That mentality transferred over to lacrosse when he was in fourth grade. His teammate took a cheap shot to the back after the whistle blew and Asher went after the kid.

He treats his teammates like they are family. He will always defend them.

The last two seasons have resulted in losses in state championship games for The Woodlands. Asher was crushed the team couldn't win those games for the seniors. He always wanted those seniors to end their high school lacrosse careers with a state championship.

This coming weekend The Woodlands will be playing in their third straight Final 4 at Highland Park High School in Dallas. The Highlanders will start things off at 4pm in the first semifinal against undefeated Episcopal School of Dallas. ESD defeated The Woodlands in sudden death two weeks ago.

These Highlanders hope to flip that switch.

Asher hopes to have a Luke Weirman-like performance at the face-off X on Saturday.

See you in Dallas!
