MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Residents are urged to disregard a viral social media post falsely claiming that a "dangerous man on the run" is in the local area. Officials have confirmed that the post is a complete fabrication, with no credible threat to the community.

The misleading story — accompanied by a photo — has been circulating online for over a year and has appeared in various cities across the country under different names and locations. Often shared by troll accounts or unsuspecting individuals, the post is part of an ongoing hoax designed to incite unnecessary fear.

Screenshots confirm that the image and narrative are recycled repeatedly, with no connection to any verified incident in Montgomery County.

Residents are advised to take the following steps if they come across the post:

  • Do not share it.

  • Report it directly to the social media platform.

  • Inform others that the post is fake.

  • Stay informed through official law enforcement or public safety channels.

“We want to ensure our community feels safe and stays informed with accurate information,” officials said. “Let’s work together to stop the spread of misinformation.”

As we head into Mother’s Day weekend, we encourage everyone to enjoy time with loved ones and remain vigilant through trusted sources.
