Azzurro Expands Restaurant in Hughes Landing in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- One of The Woodlands treasured restaurants is Azzurro Italian Coastal Cuisine in Hughes Landing. Providing a menu inspired by the Amalfi coast, Azzurro Italian Coastal Cuisine has now opened an expansion of its bar and interior dining space.

Owned by the Orioli family, Enrique Orioli is excited to continue to celebrate his family tradition of offering dishes passed down from generations, so more area residents can gather and enjoy lunch, dinner and special occasions in a beautiful space. The Orioli family truly believes that fine dining is not just a meal, it’s an experience. Three generations of family work together preparing treasured family recipes created by Nonna Elda. From classics like fresh pastas to fresh, home-made burrata, or any of their enduring Italian seafood specialties: Branzino Bagna Cauda, Cioppino, Risotto Di Mare, or any of their braised meat offerings, each dish is a delight for the eyes and the palate. Azzurro Coastal Italian Cuisine celebrates family and tradition with every meal.

Elda Orioli, the beloved matriarch of the family and a native of Ravenna, Italy, has been sharing her cherished family recipes with patrons since the 1970s, first delighting diners in Venezuela. In September of 2000, the family brought their culinary legacy to Houston, Texas, opening Via Emilia Italian Restaurant along FM 1960. The restaurant quickly became a local favorite, flourishing for 11 successful years. In 2011, recognizing the remarkable growth and potential of The Woodlands—an emerging and vibrant community in the midst of exciting development—the family made the strategic decision to relocate the restaurant. The move proved to be a wise and timely one, allowing Via Emilia to continue its tradition of authentic Italian dining in a dynamic new setting, while gracefully closing the original Houston location.

Soon to be age 90, Enrique’s Grandmother Elda, also known as Nonna, can still be found, supervising the kitchen of Via Emilia, five days a week. Other notable area restaurants in the family’s restaurant group include Marcoza Trattoria, and Terra Vino Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar.
