HOUSTON, TX -- Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center has earned advanced hip and knee replacement certification from DNV, a global leader in certification, assurance and risk management.

The certification highlights the hospital’s excellence in orthopedic surgery including hip and knee arthroplasty and related procedures, initial diagnostic services, surgical services and therapies specific to hip and knee replacement care.

“Earning certification lets people in the Houston area know that they can be confident that Baylor St. Luke’s offers the most advanced and best possible care for hip and knee replacement,” said Dr. Bradley T. Lembcke, hospital president. “It demonstrates that our hospital has the right equipment, health professionals and training to excel in hip and knee replacement from diagnosis to treatment, education and rehabilitation.”

He said the certification also underscores the hospital staff’s dedication to providing exceptional care to all orthopedic patients.

Baylor St. Luke’s specializes in treatment of hip fractures from hairline cracks to complete breaks and knee conditions including injuries, degenerative conditions, tendonitis, bursitis and alignment issues.

DNV’s advanced hip and knee replacement certification requirements incorporate guidelines from the ERAS® Society Orthopaedic guidelines, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons Clinical Practice Guidelines. They also adhere to relevant requirements within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ conditions of participation for hospitals.
