Lightning Strike Sparks House Fire in Sterling Ridge — Family Safely Evacuated
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 7:36 p.m. this evening, The Woodlands Fire Department (TWFD) was dispatched to a residential structure fire on Fillgrove Place in the Village of Sterling Ridge following a reported lightning strike.
Truck 105, which had just cleared another storm-related incident, was the first unit to arrive on scene. Firefighters observed active flames visible in the attic and immediately initiated a coordinated attack. Crews quickly pulled ceiling material to access the attic space and applied water directly to the fire, bringing the blaze under control in approximately 30 minutes.
Thanks to the activation of working smoke alarms, a family of four was able to safely evacuate the home before emergency crews arrived. One individual was evaluated on scene by Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) paramedics. No injuries were reported.
The intense lightning strike also caused electrical damage to neighboring homes. As a precaution, fire and emergency personnel conducted safety checks on surrounding residences.
The Woodlands Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Conroe Fire Department, MCHD, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The collaboration and rapid response from all agencies helped prevent further spread and ensured the safety of residents.
