UPDATE: Utility Worker Shot Multiple Times During Dispute with Homeowner in Magnolia, TX; Investigation Ongoing

MAGNOLIA, TX -- UPDATE: The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in this case as 19-year-old Briley Delacruz Rodas, who is currently in critical but stable condition in a local hospital.

The suspect, 53-year-old Keith Matthews of Magnolia, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and is currently confined to the Montgomery County Jail where he is being held on a $200,000 bond.

On June 24, 2025, at approximately 1:19 pm, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 19000 block of Rustic Ln. Magnolia, TX, in reference to a shooting.

Preliminary investigation indicates a disturbance occurred between the resident and a utility worker. The disturbance escalated, and the homeowner shot the utility worker multiple times.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, and representatives of the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office are on the scene at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. At this time, no further details are available to be released.
