The Blue Lion Pub awards its inaugural Blue Lioness Scholarship

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Blue Lion Pub – which recently moved and expanded from the Grogan’s Mill Village Center to a prime location near Woodlands Pkwy and Branch Crossing – has enjoyed resurgent popularity with its enhanced British-and-more menu, full-service bar, introduction of live music, and sports-friendly atmosphere.
The new owners of the pub, Travis and Millie Fitzpatrick, already fervent supporters of the community, decided to honor young athletes in The Woodlands with the founding of the Blue Lioness Scholarship. The scholarship, which provides club fees, gear, and access to mentorship, was created to empower and uplift young girls in sports, especially those facing hardship or showing exceptional dedication. The scholarship is intended to grow each year, supporting more girls in their athletic journey.
“The Blue Lion is proud to announce the creation of the Blue Lioness Scholarship – a fund dedicated to empowering young girls in sports by helping remove financial barriers and uplifting those with passion, perseverance, and purpose,” said Travis.
This year, the Fitzpatricks were honored to award the inaugural Blue Lioness Scholarship to a remarkable young athlete – Quinn Casteneda, an eight-year-old defender who plays soccer with HTX.
Quinn has been on the field since she could walk – inspired by her dad, a lifelong soccer fan who shared his love for the game and for Arsenal with his daughter. Just two months ago, Quinn’s father, Gabe Casteneda, passed away unexpectedly. In the face of unimaginable loss, Quinn showed incredible strength. She returned to training almost immediately, determined to keep growing in the game they both loved.
“Her bravery, dedication, and love for soccer reflect the very spirit of the Blue Lioness Scholarship,” said Travis. “We couldn’t think of a more deserving first recipient than Quinn. Supported by her mother Haley, her loving siblings, and her entire family and community, Quinn’s journey is just beginning – and we can’t wait to cheer her on.”
