Minor Fire Quickly Contained at The Woodlands Healthcare Nursing Home
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 12:43 p.m. on Sunday, The Woodlands Fire Department (TWFD) was dispatched to The Woodlands Healthcare Nursing Home following reports of a fire inside the facility.
Truck 108 arrived first on scene and discovered that a fire had occurred in a clothes closet. Fortunately, the facility’s sprinkler system activated quickly, extinguishing the flames before they could spread. Firefighters assisted nursing home staff in relocating residents from the affected wing and worked rapidly to remove smoke and water from the building.
Fire damage was confined to the closet area thanks to the swift response and sprinkler activation. One resident sustained a minor injury and was evaluated on-site by Montgomery County Hospital District medics before being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation as a precaution.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
TWFD was assisted at the scene by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department.
