Lone Star College System kicks off fall semester Aug. 25

HOUSTON, TX -- Students will return to in-person, online and hybrid classes Aug. 25, marking the beginning of Lone Star College System’s 2025-26 academic year.
Among the top priorities for LSCS leadership this year are a focus on mental health, the development of a new bachelor’s degree program and the opening of LSC-Magnolia Center.
“Lone Star College has a legacy of excellence and innovation for the future. Continuing that legacy under our chancellor’s vision, we have evolved our priorities to ensure that students are better off because of us,” said Valerie Jones, Ed.D., LSC-CyFair president.
LSCS offers pathways to bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, workforce and continuing education certificates, high school dual credit opportunities, and transfer credits for those moving on to four-year universities.
“Picture our first-generation students starting at Lone Star College, unsure of their future and unsure how to get there, but leaving with a degree, a job, and the skills and confidence to thrive. That’s the Lone Star College difference,” said Jones.
Additionally, students will not see tuition increases this year, according to the 2025-26 budget approved by the LSCS Board of Trustees on Aug. 7. Base tuition starts at $111 per credit hour for in-district students. Visit LoneStar.edu/Tuition for more information.
There is still time to register for the fall semester, which ends Dec. 14. The spring 2026 semester will begin Jan. 20. Find a list of planned holidays and other key 2025-26 dates at LoneStar.edu/Academic-Calendar. For a full list of available courses, visit LoneStar.edu/Programs-Of-Study.
