HOUSTON, Texas — Gulf Coast Blood marked a double milestone with the unveiling of a state-of-the-art donor center in Houston’s Medical Center and the launch of an expanded program to support medical research through specialized donations.

The new donor center features next-generation technology, comfortable and modern donation stations, and calming design elements to enhance every donor’s experience.

At the same time, Gulf Coast Blood’s expanded research support program will partner with biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic institutions, leveraging donated blood to fuel studies that spark medical innovation and improve patient outcomes.

As part of Friday’s celebration, a representative from Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo’s office presented a commemorative proclamation, officially declaring August 15th “Gulf Coast Blood Day” in Harris County.

“This expansion represents the next chapter in how we serve our communities,” said Nikhil Nayak, President and CEO of Gulf Coast Blood. “Every donation here will help save lives today while also contributing to innovations that can change the future of healthcare.”
