The Willis Wildkats come into the 2025 season fresh off an undefeated season in district play, powered by their high-power offense. They were rewarded with a deep playoff run which saw them make it to the third round of the 6A Division 2 tournament falling short to the DeSoto Eagles.

Home Opener at 7pm, Watch on Woodlands Online Live From Yates Stadium

Last Year Recap
The Wildkats were a force on the offensive side of the football, commanding a staggering 51.5 points per game with an average of 595.5 all-purpose yards per game. The offense was headlined by quarterback Jack Emerson and a wide receiver core containing Jermaine Bishop Jr (120.4 y/g), Jalen Mickens (87.8 y/g), and Romel Stevens (57.5 y/g). Emerson was ranked 21 st in the nation in total passing yards (4,102 yds), while Bishop ranked was ranked top 5 in Texas among wideouts in receiving yards (1565 yds). On the defensive side of the ball, they were known for getting to the QB with
seniors De’quentin Willis and Logan Henagar racking up 8 and 7 sacks respectively.

Losses
This year, the Wildkats look to continue their dominance on offense from last year, despite losing some key players. In the offseason key pieces like QB Jack Emerson (4102 yds), RB Terri Lawrence (61.8 y/g, 18 TDs), and WR/RB Daylion Robinson (20 TDs) have all graduated, leaving Jermaine Bishop Jr as one of the only stars from last year. On defense, the Wildkats lost standout linebackers De’quentin
Willis and Logan Henagar, who lead the team in both sacks and tackles.

Star Power: Jermaine Bishop Jr
Bishop had an incredible year in 2024, averaging 120.4 yards per game and scoring 20 TDs. He committed to the University of Texas in May and is ranked out as a 5-star and one of the best players in the country. Bishop will play both sides of the ball, as well as special teams and will be an impact player in all aspects of the game. He will remain a cornerstone of this offense and will be a dynamic player to watch this year.

New Addition: Jaivion Martin
Joining Bishop Jr in the receiving core is standout TE Javion Martin, who is a top-rated recruit committed to the University of Arkansas. Martin transferred to Willis from Pflugerville in June and will only add to this high-powered offense. He has 88 catches for 1,361 yards and 14 TDs over the past two seasons and looks to be another key part of this offense

Supporting Cast
The Wildkats have some key returners along with Bishop, notability 6’4” 290lbs. Day’jon Moore on the offensive line who is committed to Maryland. Moore will be responsible for protecting freshman QB Lincoln Fraser who looks to capitalize on all the weapons he has on offense and start his career on the right foot. Defensively, they lost some pieces but reloaded nicely with DL Jakayden Thompson, LB Cayden Williams, and DB Amajai Friend.

Schedule
This year Willis will once again have a tough district schedule in front of them, with many teams improving in the offseason and proven teams hungry to win. They’ve already taken care of out of district opponent Benjamin Davis, winning 42-14 and will play Klein Collins this week. In district however, teams like The Woodlands Highlanders and College Park Cavaliers are looking strong and could be a challenge for the Wildkats. Other schools like Conroe and Oak Ridge also look promising, making a 3rd straight district title one that the Wildkats will have to earn. Even with all that, this team
should still be viewed as a top team in the district and will be a force to reckon with as the season progresses.
