THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 9:43 a.m. Thursday morning, The Woodlands Fire Department (TWFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire at a strip center located at 1440 Sawdust Road.

Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department Engine 141 was the first unit to arrive on scene and reported heavy black smoke coming from The Woodlands Nail Salon. Firefighters from Engine 141 and TWFD Engine 103 initiated an aggressive offensive attack and quickly knocked down the main body of fire.

Follow-up crews entered adjacent businesses to ensure all occupants had safely evacuated and to check for any fire extension. Firefighters then began overhaul and ventilation operations to secure the scene.

There were no reported injuries. The Woodlands Nail Salon sustained significant fire damage, while the neighboring laundromat experienced smoke and fire control damage. Four additional businesses in the strip center suffered light smoke damage and are hopeful to reopen later today.

The Woodlands Fire Department was assisted on scene by the South Montgomery County Fire Department, Montgomery County Hospital District, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
