Montgomery County Sheriff’s Sergeant Injured in Highway 249 Crash with Distracted Driver Near Tomball
TOMBALL, TX -- This morning, on October 28, 2025, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic hazard on Highway 249 due to a stalled vehicle in the main lanes. MCSO patrol units arrived on the scene to set up traffic control. While they were working, a distracted driver rear-ended a Sergeant's marked patrol vehicle, which had its emergency lights on and activated. The Sergeant was inside the vehicle at the time of the collision. Both the Sergeant and the driver of the vehicle were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The Sergeant is currently in stable condition.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating this incident.
Sheriff Doolittle and his command staff have responded to the scene and are supporting the Sergeant and his family at this time.
Sheriff Doolittle stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with our Sergeant and his family. This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers our deputies face daily while serving the public. Please remember to slow down and move over when you see law enforcement vehicles on the side of the road or responding to and investigating traffic-related incidents - it saves lives.”

We are incredibly thankful for their swift response when one of our own was in need.
