THE WOODLANDS, TX -- This year’s Lone Star College Foundation golf tournament raised a record-breaking $202,085 to alleviate financial burdens for Lone Star College System students. Approximately 220 golfers participated in the 32nd annual event at The Woodlands Country Club on Nov. 17.

“Lone Star College Foundation is beyond honored to partner with so many in the community to help students succeed in school and in life. As the Foundation prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2026, we are more energized than ever to continue empowering students,” said Nicole Robinson Gauthier, CFRE, Lone Star College System associate vice chancellor, Foundation Advancement. “It does not escape us that so many Lone Star College Foundation supporters return to this tournament year after year and even bring in new sponsors and underwriters. Seeing so many turn up on the golf course for LSC students is encouraging.”

Seventy volunteers and eight sponsors and underwriters helped make the event happen, including JLL as the tournament sponsor and Chesmar Foundation as the champion sponsor. First Community Credit Union was this year’s presenting sponsor, with TJ Tijerina, president & CEO, and Jennifer Kilgore, executive vice president & COO, serving as tournament chairs.

“We were proud to serve as chairs and presenting sponsor for the LSC Foundation’s 32nd annual golf tournament,” Tijerina and Kilgore said. “Having an impact on the trajectory of student success not only changes student lives but also helps our community thrive. That is just one of the reasons why we at First Community are deeply committed to educational advancement.”

The annual fun-filled day brings in life-changing funds for LSCS students. The 32nd annual tournament resulted in:

  • 56 new scholarships
  • $5,896 added to program funds, supporting emergency funds and college programs
  • $38,803 toward endowments, providing scholarships in perpetuity
  • $48,849 to help support the most crucial and timely needs of students

“Thank you for everything you’ve done to make my education here at Lone Star College System possible and for believing in students like me. Your generosity is changing lives, and I hope to make you proud,” said Savionn Sharp, LSC Foundation scholarship recipient and golf tournament student speaker.

“As a golfer myself, I can say that this tournament is one of the best in the city,” said Miranda Hadamik, LSC Foundation board chair. “But what makes it even more special is knowing the difference it makes in the lives of students, allowing them to work hard, earn their degree or certificate, and find a job with a livable wage to support their families.”

LSC Foundation awarded $3.3 million in scholarships to 3,173 students in the 2024-2025 academic year. The Foundation also supports students through meal plan vouchers, emergency relief funds, campus food pantries and more. Learn more about supporting this work at LoneStar.edu/Giving/Ways-Of-Giving.
