Hands-on summer camp Club SciKidz coming to The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX – While Spring Break is giving parents and students a brief respite from the slog of work/school/home life by removing at least one third of it for a week, the big sigh of relief is rapidly approaching with the end of the school year and summer break on its heels, and with summer camps as a large – and necessary – part of it for many.
One camp in particular stands out with its originality and engagement. Club SciKidz Houston is coming to The Woodlands for a strictly limited, three-week residency at Living Word Lutheran Church. If you crave a camp that can keep a Minecraft enthusiast, a budding emergency physician, and a creative artist equally engaged, this program is transforming traditional summer fun into an immersive deep-dive into the skills of tomorrow.
Conceived and owned by Dhana Boddepalli, Club SciKidz offers 16 unique themes in its classes that are expertly tailored to specific grade levels, ensuring that its ‘20 experiments per week’ initiatives are age-appropriate and engaging.
Designed for students in grades Pre-K through 8, quality instruction is stressed in the program’s small class ratio of only ten students per instructor, ensuring your children receive individual attention, guidance, and safety supervision whether they are building a robot or conducting a chemistry experiment.
Programs are broken into four age groups: Little Regents consist of the youngest students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten; Young Explorers are in grades 1 through 3; Junior Scientists are in grades 4 and 5; and Middle School Pros in grades 6 through 8.
The youngest group will be introduced to basic chemistry, sparking a love for reactions and laboratory safety; basic construction for those who love to tinker; and a prehistoric journey for young paleontologists. First through third graders will enjoy bringing machines to life with early coding; building in a digital world; and Scratch-based coding in a LEGO environment. Movie-making and animation, advanced robotics and mechanical design, and stagework-based science and technology await the fourth and fifth graders. And middle schoolers will step into a professional lab setting to learn life-saving skills, learn to protect the digital world from real-world threats, master the tools of professional digital art and animation creators, and dive into high-stakes engineering and competitive robotics in a ‘battle bot’ environment.
Woodlands Online readers can enjoy a special discount and get a head start on their summer planning through a special arrangement: through March 31, using the code DISCOVER20 will get you $20 off of each registration. Sessions fill up quickly, so parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Classes will take place at Living Word Lutheran Church, located at 9500 N Panther Creek Dr. in The Woodlands; full-day programs with before- and after-care will be available from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
