THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At 11:55 a.m. on April 11, 2026, the Conroe Fire Department, Montgomery County ESD 9, Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD), and Conroe Police Department units were dispatched to a reported trench rescue response in the 3660 block of South Loop 336 East near FM 3083 East. While en route, additional information was relayed of two victims may be trapped in the trench.

Initial units from Conroe Fire Department arrived on scene 12:02 pm, however due access was difficult due to the terrain and trench location, which was approximately 1000 feet from the main road.

Once crews made access to the site, it was determined that two victims were buried in the trench. Additional resources were requested to assist Conroe Fire Departments Technical Rescue Team.

Crews were ultimately able to deploy the necessary safety equipment to access the victims safely. The first victim was removed from the trench at 12:56 pm, unfortunately the victim was deceased. The second victim was removed at 1:11pm and was transported by MCHD to HCA Houst Healthcare Conroe. Their condition is unknown as the time of this release.

During rescue and recovery operations, a construction worker experienced a medical emergency and was treated on scene by MCHD personnel.

These types of responses are extremely labor-intensive and require a tremendous expertise and personnel to complete. The Conroe Fire Department is grateful for the strong working relationships we have with our neighboring agencies. Additional responding agencies included Montgomery County Emergency Service District (ESD) 9, Montgomery County ESD 1, Montgomery County Hospital District, The Woodlands Fire Department, and the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management.

The incident remains under investigation by the Conroe Police Department. OSHA has been notified.
