OAK RIDGE NORTH, TX -- The City of Oak Ridge North is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and public trust within its Police Department.

On May 31, 2026, Officer Zachery Castenon arrived at the Oak Ridge North Police Department and reported for duty. Upon his arrival, another Oak Ridge North Police Department officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. At that time, Officer Castenon had not yet assumed any patrol-related responsibilities. The observing officer immediately notified the supervisor. Consistent with department policy and protocol, the supervising sergeant contacted the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and requested that an independent outside agency conduct the investigation.

The City and Police Department is fully cooperating with DPS throughout its investigation. Officer Castenon was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated.

Officer Castenon is no longer employed by the City of Oak Ridge North.

Because this matter remains under investigation by DPS and the criminal justice process is ongoing, the city will not comment further at this time. The City remains committed to transparency and accountability and will continue to cooperate with all appropriate authorities.

The actions of one individual do not reflect the professionalism, integrity, and dedication demonstrated daily by the men and women of the Oak Ridge North Police Department. The city appreciates the actions taken by department personnel in promptly reporting the concern and following established procedures to ensure an independent investigation.
