Chapter Regents with marker
CONROE, Texas —Patriotism filled the air at the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park in Conroe, Texas, as five local chapters of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) gathered to unveil a new America 250! Patriot marker.
The dedication marker, erected in honor of Revolutionary War patriots and the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, was co-sponsored by the Spring Creek Chapter, Margaret Montgomery Chapter, Mary Vaughan Corner Chapter, Coushatti Trace Chapter, and Heritage Trails Chapter.
Each participating chapter contributed by securing the $500 America 250! marker grant from NSDAR and raised additional matching funds for the marker's permanent base.
The collaborative event brought together numerous community leaders and partner organizations. Special recognition was extended to the late Judge Jimmie C. Edwards, Elizabeth Woods, and Thomas Turner of the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park; Dick Stein of Classic Bronze Resource; Texas Gravestone Care, LLC of Porter, Texas; the Freedom Chapter Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Color Guard; and event photographer Connie McNabb.
Distinguished NSDAR state leaders in attendance included Texas DAR State Officers Dr. Jan Garrison and Anthony Startz, alongside National Vice Chair America 250! Martha Hirsch. State Representative Will Metcalf provided an official proclamation to commemorate the occasion, followed by a community reception.
