Conroe Man With Prior Felony Convictions Arrested After Armed Family Violence Standoff
CONROE, TX -- At approximately 9:00 p.m. on August 15, 2026, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a report of family violence involving a weapon in the 9000 block of Chimney Swift Lane in Conroe.
During the incident, the suspect, who has prior felony convictions, assaulted family members and displayed a firearm. The family was able to exit the residence and contact law enforcement.
The suspect then barricaded himself inside the home and refused to surrender. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Drone Team, and Crisis Negotiation Team were activated and responded to the scene. After deploying countermeasures to gain compliance, the suspect surrendered without further incident. No citizens or law enforcement personnel were injured during the standoff.
Joseph Andre Baumbach, 42, was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. He is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Aggravated Assault. He is currently being held on No Bond.
