The Willis Wildkats Take On The Klein Collins Tigers In The Ultimate Revenge Game

WILLIS, TX – Outside of district play, revenge games are not the most common sight in high school football. This season, however, the Willis Wildkats get the chance to play the Klein Collins Tigers again, in hopes of avenging the brutal loss in 2025. The Wildkats started the season hot, shutting out the Magnolia Bulldogs and picking up right where they left off from last season's playoff run. Klein Collins is in a similar boat, winning their opening game against the Tompkins Falcons 42-21. Both teams will be eyeing this matchup with anticipation, so let's see how they’ll fare once they meet on the field again.

Last season, we saw incredible things from the Willis Wildkats' roster, and despite losing some of that talent, they are still dazzling across the field. Returning sophomore QB Linc Frazier threw the ball more than anyone else last year, and that seems to be the case again. Frazier had quite the stat line last week, going 29/49 (60% completion rate) for 411 yards and 2 TDs, plus a 20-yard TD run. Hopefully he can maintain that excellent efficiency against Klein Collins, as Willis will need it in this rematch.

Catching passes from Frazier is a host of talented wideouts. Senior Preston Stephenson, junior Trey Finney, and junior Antrell Warren all had exceptional starts to the season, keeping this passing attack one of the scariest in District 13. Stephenson notably had an awesome game (read more about it here), catching 11 passes for 200 yards, including a long TD pass early on. Warren also got in on the scoring action, scoring a TD late in the game and finishing with 69 yards on 3 catches. While Finney wasn’t as efficient in the last game, he still caught 8 passes for 45 yards and promises to be a vital piece in the game against Collins this week.

While the Wildkats aren’t a run-first team, the rushing attack was still solid throughout the opening game. Junior RB Jamarcus Williams had a strong start to the season, rushing 7 times for 52 yards and a TD. Williams was also a threat in the passing game, catching 8 passes for 97 yards and serving as an effective safety valve for his young QB. Williams will need to carry this strong start into the rest of the season, as a lack of rushing hurt the Wildkats against the Tigers last season.

The defense was nearly perfect last game, and a shutout is the ideal way to start a season. Returning many starters helps improve a defense that was at times questionable last season, and the Wildkats have plenty of them. LB Cayden Williams and DE Waylan Nolen made huge impacts and were key in the shutout against the Bulldogs. Defensive backs A’majai Friend and Jamal Lagway provide vital support on the outside and round out a unit that feels more complete than ever. The defense will face a real test against the Tigers, as it struggled to stop the Tigers’ elite rushing attack last season. Judging by the tape from the Klein Collins opener, that rushing game isn’t going anywhere, and the defense will need to be on high alert all game. They don’t need to be perfect like Week 1, but if the defense can improve at stopping the run, the offense should be able to do some damage.

Klein Collins Tigers: A Strong Out-Of-District Challenge

Last season, the Klein Collins Tigers were a formidable team, winning their district and reaching the 3rd round of the state playoffs. They loved to run the football, which killed Willis in their 1st bout in 2025 as they ran the clock out and never let the Willis offense get the ball back. This season, they brought in some new pieces but started off strong against the Tompkins Falcons, winning 42-21.

They return key runners such as senior Tyce Hudson, junior Damarcus Jones, and senior Austin Terry. All three rushed for over 200 yards, with Hudson second on the team in rushing with 620 yards and 9 TDs. They frequently use multiple RBs in the backfield throughout the game and run heavy sets to open gaps for rushers. The Tigers also have a new QB, Brylon Jefferson, who showed off in the season opener with 2 passing TDs. He’s not afraid to throw it deep, and that could be something Collins brings into this game. A passing attack, along with that powerful rush game, could spell trouble for any team, so the Wildkats will have to be wary of this new Tiger offense.

Final Thoughts:

Much like last season, this game promises to be an interesting one, as both teams have playoff potential and talent across their rosters. The Wildkats will need to keep up the high-flying offense they are known for and hold the Tigers off on defense to give the offense room to operate. If the defense steps up and gets the ball back to the offense quickly, Willis can overwhelm Collins, but they will have to be sharp. Revenge games are always a blast, but hopefully the Wildkats don’t let that cloud their game plan.
