Library Events in The Woodlands – September 7 - 12, 2026

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands enjoys two amazing libraries within the Township borders – the George & Cynthia Mitchell Library located at 8125 Ashlane Way, and the Kevin Brady Library located at 2250 Buckthorne Place – that are open Mondays - Thursdays 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Fridays - Saturdays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (closed Sundays).

Beyond having tons of books to check out, these libraries also offer computer / internet services, reference and research services, movie check-outs, classes, workshops, activities, and more. Woodlands Online presents this weekly summary of what each week has in store.

All library events, programs, and classes are free and open to the public. If any individual requires an accommodation to participate in the library events, programs, or classes, please contact the host library location at least three days before the program or event. Some events require registration. Classes and events with full already-full registrations are not included in this list. Events are subject to change without notice.

Preschool Storytime
9:30 - 10:00 a.m., 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.
This story program is for preschoolers (ages 3 - 5) and a caregiver with an emphasis on building early literacy skills through stories, songs, and movement. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate alongside their children. Entrance is first-come, first-serve, until the room or program is at capacity. Space is limited; please limit the number of adults in your group to allow more children into the program. Please attend one storytime each week to allow more children into the program. Children must be supervised by an adult. Food is not allowed in the program; please save your snacks for afterwards. To avoid distracting other children, please refrain from bringing toys to storytime.

Parent-Child Workshop – Early Literacy and Orientation
10:00 - 11:15 a.m.
As a member of the Family Place Libraries™ network, a national initiative that expands the role of children’s services beyond early literacy to include healthy child development and family support, we are excited to relaunch our Parent-Child Workshop series this fall. This series is designed for children ages 0 - 3 and their caregivers. Families come together in a room filled with toys that encourage creative play and learning. At each session, a community resource professional will be available to engage with families during free play and answer questions surrounding the weekly theme. Crafternoons for Adults

If you’ve got hundreds of pins on Pinterest, but just can’t get started, Crafternoons is for you. Each month will feature a free craft that registered adults 18+ can create. No advanced skills are needed; crafts are self-directed with provided instructions. This month’s craft is Spooky Book Art. Sponsored by South Montgomery County Friends of the Library. Registration for this event is full and closed.

Wednesday, September 9

Fall Gardening with Bob Dailey

Ever wanted to learn how to grow a bountiful fall garden? Now is your chance. Led by Master Gardener Bob Dailey, you will walk away knowing how to use organic growing methods and select the plants that work best for our county's soil and growing season. Music & Movement

Let’s get moving! In this program geared toward the younger crowd, we’ll use scarves and other fun surprises to dance, play, and get those wiggles out. Activities are geared towards ages 3 - 6. Pre-registration is not required. Free tickets are available at the Children's Desk 15 minutes before the program starts. Space is limited. First come, first served. Gumshoe Mystery Book Club

Please join us at the Kevin Brady Library for lively discussion and trivia of our selected mystery book. Seating is limited and registration is required. Ready to turn imagination into reality? Join our 3D Printing Orientation and discover the amazing services available at the Kevin Brady Library. This session is required before you can reserve time on our 3D printer – your first step toward creating something incredible! Children ages 13 - 18 must be accompanied by an adult during orientation and appointments. Class will be held in the computer lab. LEGO with Lexi
4:00 - 5:00 p.m.
We supply the bricks, and you supply the imagination! Create something amazing in this open-build program with Miss Lexi. We observe the following rules in our LEGO program: Due to choking hazard, this program is not appropriate for children under the age of 3 years. To help keep our bricks clean and to prevent spreading germs, you must use hand sanitizer (provided by the library) before building. Bricks are for building – throwing, chewing on, and breaking bricks are not allowed. Bricks must be shared. Respect one another’s work – do not destroy anyone else’s creation. No bricks or minifigs from home are allowed.

Teen Manga Meet Up
5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
This month, we will be reading Gachiakuta, volumes 1 and 2. Please join us for a fun discussion of the series, an activity or craft, a fun quiz with prizes, and a fun scavenger hunt afterwards. We will have special prizes, treats, and more. Parents and guardians are asked to drop off their teens or wait elsewhere in the library during the program. Saturday, September 12

READ with the Dogs
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
READ with the Dogs encourages children to practice their reading skills by reading to specially trained therapy dogs. Children who read five books to a dog receive a free book. This activity is provided through a partnership with Pets with a Mission. This program is intended for children who are able to read independently or with minimal help. Children who are not yet reading are invited to enjoy books in the library with their caregiver. Please register only children who will be reading. Parents and nonreaders do not need to register. To ensure an enjoyable experience for the children and the dogs, the following rules will be observed: Read with the Dogs is intended to be a one-on-one reading experience between the child and the dog. As such, parents and siblings of readers are asked to wait outside of the room. Children will be allowed to sit with a dog for up to 10 minutes and read as many books to the dog before their turn is over.
