Team Abilities Invites Local Law Enforcement to “Coffee With a Cop” Drive-Thru Breakfast

CONROE, Tx --TEAM Abilities is inviting local peace officers to cruise through for breakfast, hot coffee and a heartfelt thank-you during its Coffee with a Cop Drive-Thru on Wednesday, October 7, from 9 to 10 a.m. at TEAM Abilities, 8448 Hwy 242 in Conroe. The complimentary event gives TEAM Abilities Team Members an opportunity to turn the tables and serve those who serve them and their community every day.Officers can simply drive through, receive a complimentary breakfast box and hot coffee, visit briefly with TEAM Members and then be on their way.“We depend on and support our local law enforcement, and we hope we have a good turnout,” said Rachel Jelks, Founder & CEO of TEAM Abilities. “Our officers are an important part of the communities where our Team Members live, work and participate every day. This is simply our way of saying, ‘Thank you. We appreciate you.’”The event was intentionally designed as a drive-thru because TEAM Abilities understands that officers may have little time to spare during a shift.“We deliberately set this up as a to-go event so they can cruise in, grab breakfast and get to wherever they need to go next,” Jelks said. “And the breakfast boxes are chock-full of goodies! Plus, we’ll have plenty of hot coffee ready to go.”For TEAM Members, however, the morning represents something more than handing someone a cup of coffee.TEAM Abilities works to provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to participate meaningfully in everyday community life. Events such as Coffee with a Cop create opportunities for Team Members to interact with local law enforcement in a welcoming environment while practicing hospitality, communication and service to others.“There is something really special about giving our Team Members the opportunity to be the ones doing the serving,” said Jelks. “So often people with special needs are thought of as the recipients of help. Wednesday morning, they get to be the helpers. They get to say thank you, hand an officer breakfast and coffee, and let our law enforcement community know that their service matters to us.”Local law enforcement officers from throughout the area are invited to stop by. No reservation is necessary.COFFEE WITH A COPWednesday, October 7, 20269:00 – 10:00 a.m.TEAM Abilities8448 Hwy 242Conroe, TX 77385Drive-Thru • Complimentary Breakfast Box • Hot CoffeeLet our Team Members serve those who serve us!ABOUT TEAM ABILITIEST.E.A.M.
