Habitat for Humanity provides progress report for Marble Creek Capital Campaign

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Habitat for Humanity Montgomery County TX, the local branch of the national nonprofit organization providing housing for underprivileged people and others in need, recently held a ‘State of the Build’ report for its second community, Marble Creek.

“Marble Creek is taking shape, and we’re excited to share a monthly look at the progress we’re making toward creating a new community of more than 200 affordable homes in Montgomery County,” said executive director Vicki Johnson.

The community’s first four homes are complete. Two new homeowners, Elizabeth and Nettaya, were celebrated as they began new chapters with their families.

“In just four weeks, our Blitz Build partners came together to complete the first four homes in Marble Creek. We are grateful to LGI Homes, Matt Powers Custom Homes & Renovations, Laura Powers Property Group, Compass RE TX LLC, and their trade partners for making this milestone possible,” said Johnson.

Fundraising for the community is progressing well, with $6.1 million raised toward the organization’s $11 million goal. With 55% of funds raised, Johnson has high hopes for the speedy donation of the remaining $4.9 million.

“Every gift brings us closer to opening the doors for more than 200 families,” she said.

There are many ways to make an impact at Marble Creek, from making an online gift to exploring a naming opportunity for a meaningful way to leave a lasting legacy. Naming opportunities range from major streets and the neighborhood entrance monument to parks, trails, gathering spaces, and other community features, with gift levels beginning at $5,000.

Another fundraising option is the “Hope Note” initiative. Anyone making a capital campaign gift online just simply leaves a message in the comment section of the donation form; Habitat staff will handwrite your note on a Hope Note card to be presented to a future Marble Creek homeowner at their home dedication – those wishing to write their own notes can request a card to be mailed to them. Each Hope Note card features artwork by Analy, the daughter of a Habitat homeowner in Cedar Creek, an all-Habitat neighborhood in Conroe.
