THE WOODLANDS, TX -- For families spending Halloween in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a festive photo shoot at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital helped make the holiday feel a little more special.

Parents of the hospital’s tiniest patients selected from a collection of Halloween costumes thoughtfully designed by registered nurses Hannah Williams, Carly Bell and Emily Britt, creating meaningful memories during an unexpected chapter of parenthood as their little ones took part in a festive photo shoot.

“While a NICU stay is rarely part of a family's plan, moments of joy can make all the difference,” Christy Adams, NICU manager at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital said. “This photo shoot allowed parents to step away, even briefly, from the stress and uncertainty of hospitalization and simply enjoy being Mom and Dad. Creating those meaningful memories is one of the many ways we support families throughout their journey.”

The costumes ranged from sweet treats to Halloween classics, including ice cream cones, donuts, strawberries, superheroes and, of course, jack-o'-lanterns.

Houston Methodist is proud to provide specialized childbirth care for moms-to-be and their babies including:

▪ An experienced team of board-certified obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, nurse practitioners, lactation consultants and pediatricians, as well as 24/7 obstetric hospitalists focused entirely on expectant mothers

▪ Neonatal intensive care unit in partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital, offering the latest in neonatal and pediatric care

▪ Wireless fetal monitoring that allows doctors to monitor mothers and babies, while minimizing the risk of maternal/fetal heart rate confusion, offering greater freedom to move around during labor
