THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Kids in The Woodlands have more than an abundance of extra-curricular activities to choose from. The challenge for parents is to find one that your child will enjoy beyond the first practice or session. The Children's Ministry team at Christ Church recognizes that each child has a different talent and interest and way of learning. And sometimes kids think they will enjoy something because their friends participate or because someone once told them they should try it.

This summer, Christ Church United Methodist is offering elementary school aged children a sports camp that gives kids everything. The "Try Different Sports" Camp is just that - a chance for kids to try different sports to see which sport they like and may want to develop a bit further. This camp, available in July, will introduce children to the skills of flag football, track & field, soccer, and basketball. "We are still developing the various sports based on the feedback we have been receiving. We may expand this to include golf, karate and more," says Amy Mitcham, Director of Children's Ministry at Christ Church.

Children are grouped according to their grade levels. The camp is planned to run July 26th - 29th with varying times depending on the grade level. Cost of the week long camp is $60 for younger elementary kids and $75 for older elementary kids. Although July is several months away, registration is taking place and space is limited.

For the avid basketball player, Christ Church is offering an Upward Basketball Camp June 28th - July 1st as a means for boys and girls grades 1st - 4th to continue developing their basketball skills. All of the sports camps at Christ Church will include skill development, snacks and a time of prayer and devotion.
