THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- This Saturday, September 24, Community Christian Church will join a national movement called OneGenAway to feed the needy in Montgomery County. This movement was founded by Pastor Chris Whitney of the Nashville Family Church in Franklin, Tenn.

Amy Luker, OneGenAway Coordinator for Community Christian Church stated, "Our church is excited to be involved in the OneGenAway movement. We see this as the perfect opportunity to reach beyond the church walls and serve our communities as well as show the love of Christ. I hope that other groups and churches will see the opportunity and join the movement."

Community Christian Church and OneGenAway share a common goal of feeding the needy by reaching out to local communities through its churches. OneGenAway has a vision of feeding one million people across the country in one day. They want churches and volunteers of all denominations to take part in this movement and go outside their church walls and help their communities.

In conjunction with the Montgomery County Food Bank, Community Christian Church has committed to feeding 300 families of 4 with up to one week’s worth of food. Funding for the purchase of 30,000 pounds of food was generously donated by the Wiesner Auto Group of Conroe.

Terry Hatfield, General Manager of the Wiesner Auto Group said, “When you have been so blessed; you can’t ignore 1 in 6 children going to bed hungry every night in Montgomery County...we must do something.”

Community Christian Church is currently looking for local groups, churches or organizations who would like to work together to spread the OneGenAway movement.
