Student Athletes of the Week
The WOL Sports Student Athletes of the Week presented by Mr. Rooter are Junior Setter Jackie Ward of Oak Ridge High School and Junior Running Back Patrick Carr of The Woodlands High School.
Jackie Ward - Junior Setter - Oak Ridge HS
Jackie Ward helped the War Eagles go 2-0 in both district games on the road with a 3-2 win at Conroe on Tuesday and a 3-1 win at A&M Consolidated on Friday night, respectively. Ward had 47 assists in a five-match thriller against Conroe and 22 assists on Friday night against A&M Consolidated. Oak Ridge is now 23-6 overall and 3-1 in District 14-5A play. The War Eagles will continue district play on Tuesday, October 1st at Lufkin at 6:00pm, and return home on Friday to face The Woodlands at 6:00pm as well.
Patrick Carr - Junior Running Back - The Woodlands HS
Patrick Carr ran for 177 yards on 18 carries with 5 touchdowns to lead the Highlanders to a 56-2 Homecoming win at Woodforest Bank Stadium against Conroe Friday night. Carr had touchdown runs of 3, 7, 3, 48, and 22 yards respectively. "I'm blessed, My offensive line really did a great job," said Carr.
With the win Carr and the Highlanders improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in District 14-5A and will travel to College Station to take on A&M Consolidated on Friday at 7:30pm.
