If you enjoy the great steaks and diverse menu selections at Outback Steakhouse for dinner, then go back to Outback for lunch, beginning March 24. The Woodlands Outback Steakhouse location will now be serving lunch starting Monday, for those who love a great steak, a ‘Bloomin’ Onion’ appetizer, and many other delectable favorites on their dinner menu.

Founded in 1988 in Tampa, Florida, Outback Steakhouse is an American casual dining restaurant chain with over 1200 locations in 23 countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Outback Steakhouse immediately became recognized for their signature steaks like the ‘Bone-in Ribeye’ and ‘Victoria’s Filet,’ and their bold flavors.

“Now our customers can have our dinner menu for lunch,” said manager, Kevin Vo. “Although my favorite, the Bone-in Ribeye is not on the lunch menu, if a customer wants it, we’ll prepare it,” citing their motto, ‘No Rules, Just Right.’

A sneak preview of many of the items that will now be served at lunch, included appetizers like their chicken quesadillas and the crab and avocado stack, a wide variety of salads, the ‘Bone-in steak previously mentioned, and what would an Australian-themed restaurant be without grilled ‘Shrimp on the Barbie?’

“We’re not just a steak and potato restaurant,” said Vo. “We really listen to what our customers are asking for. We have elevated the culinary aspect of our restaurants.”

According to Vo, prior to adding a new item to the menu, the Outback R&D (Research & Development) Department will work to ensure that it meets Outback’s own internal Quality Control standards, then test it in focus groups.

“But ultimately our customers have the final say,” added Vo.“People have come to expect consistently high-quality food and service, and generous portions at moderate prices. We go to great lengths to ensure that.”

Canvassing others present, Operations Manager, Ryan Richardson listed the ‘Bone-in Ribeye’ as his favorite, and recommended the clam chowder, stating that it’s the best he’s ever eaten.

Other favorites enjoyed by the diners...Annette Neyman, loved not only the crab and avocado cake appetizer, but the presentation and crispness of the Blue Cheese Wedge Salad. Chamber Chairman, Amy Milstead, loved the quesadillas, saying they were ‘the best!’

“The filet is my favorite,” recommended wait server, Brett. “It just melts in your mouth.”

If you can’t decide on a steak or one of the seafood selections like Maji, salmon, or shrimp, order a ‘surf & turf’ combo. The sides are numerous with many different versions using potatoes that are grown only for the Outback Steakhouses. Likewise, the exclusive one-pound onion used to make their famous ‘Bloomin’ Onion;’ cut to 'bloom' open after being breaded and deep-fried, and served with mayonnaise-horseradish sauce.

Outback has now added a "light style" option to the menu with meals under 500 calories by preparing the meals without butter and added fats, and carefully proportioning out the sides. Gluten-free options are also available.

The desserts provide another difficult decision-making process. The sundaes are made with Blue Bell ice cream, but the ‘Sweet Adventure Sampler Trio’ allows you to try a variety of delicious desserts or share with your dinner partners.

Many may not be aware that Outback Steakhouse has a strong commitment to improve the quality of life in the community. They maintain that being a good neighbor is more than just providing exemplary food and service. Each of their restaurants seek out local groups and events with which to share its food, time, and money.

The Outback Steakhouse just north of The Woodlands is located at 18326 I-45 South Shenandoah (77384), on the southbound frontage road just north of Research Forest. If navigating from The Woodlands take Grogan’s Mill north to Vision Park, then take a right when you reach I-45N. It’s really not in the outback, it’s conveniently located on I-45 in The Woodlands.
