THE WOODLANDS, Texas--This year, Easter Sunday will be on April 20, with Good Friday on April 18. The Woodlands United Methodist Church will have many church services throughout Easter Weekend for residents.

Worship services at TWUMC will be held on Good Friday to commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. The Good Friday Traditional Service will be held at 12:00 P.M and again at 7:00 P.M. in the Robb Chapel of the main building.

On the Saturday before Easter, April 19, TWUMC will have its first ever Children’s Easter Service in the Jones Library at 3:00 P.M. It will be a service for the whole family to enjoy.

“The service will incorporate storytelling pitched at a level for children,” said Joel Purcell, Pastor of Outreach.

In the Loft, the contemporary building of the church, there will be two evening services on Saturday night.

On Easter Sunday, the church will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ by holding traditional Easter services in the main building at 8:00 A.M., 9:15 A.M., and again at 11:00 A.M. Two contemporary services, known as Harvest Easter Worship, will take place at 9:30 A.M. and 11:15 A.M. in Wesley Hall.

The nursery will be open during Easter Sunday and goes up to children in Kindergarten, but the regular Sunday school classes will not be in session.

Throughout all of Easter Weekend, every venue and worship service will feature live preaching and live music. Because of the volume of people expected to attend, TWUMC will have remote parking at Hughes Landing. There will be several buses constantly transporting attendees to and from the church.

“It is very convenient and will almost be like valet parking,” said Purcell.

Along with members of The Woodlands United Methodist Church, many guests are expected to attend services on Easter.

Bright and early Easter morning before worship services begin, TWUMC will have a sunrise breakfast at 7:15 A.M. that will include coffee, quiche, and breakfast tacos.

“We really want our members to come early so we can welcome our guests,” said Purcell. “We want the guests to have a great experience as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. That is what we are all about.”
