UPDATE:

Fundraiser for woodlands pet rescue operation pets alive

Leiann Klein, the artist who accomplished an amazing feat of painting thirty dogs in thirty days for a fundraising auction for Operation Pets Alive, presented the organization with a check in the amount of $4,290! Talk about the gift that keeps on giving...Klein has decided to keep out fundraiser going.

"I have set up an online store through Facebook and on my website so people can purchase a blank canvas in varying sizes, for me to paint a custom pet portrait for them," said Klein. "A donation from every pet portrait will go to Operation Pets Alive. The goal is to reach $10,000 in donations by the end of 2014."

No including the original 30 pet portraits, Klein says she'll need to sell between 110-150 canvases to reach the goal.

"I've currently sold 10 more portraits. That doesn’t even include the sale of the "30 dogs 30 days" calendar which Operation Pets Alive receives 50% of the proceeds as well," said Klein. "I have them for sale in my online store also."

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Starting April 1, 2014 local Artist Leiann Klein will paint 30 Dogs in 30 Days. The paintings will be publicly displayed at a variety of events and locations like the Spring Art Festival in Market Street in The Woodlands May 3, 2014. Klein will host an online auction of the completed paintings for purchase and fifty percent of the proceeds will go to Operation Pets Alive, a Woodlands-based non-profit working to promote humane, no kill initiatives in Montgomery County.

Klein is excited to give pet owners an opportunity to show off their furry friends, whose photographs are quickly filling her studio. Currently people are submitting photos of their dogs as potential subjects for the paintings via email on Klein's project website and the projects associated facebook page.
It is an exciting process getting people and their pets involved. Artist Leiann Klein is currently filling the walls of her studio with these photographs. The goal is that each day she will wake up and pick one pooch to paint that day.

Once the painting frenzy begins, fans will be able to follow each painting each day from start to finish on the 30 Dogs 30 Days blog and facebook.

Klein is a professional full time accomplished artist and proud pet owner herself. She has two Jack Russell's named Pixie and Kramer and last year she adopted her third dog Jasmine from the South Texas Aussie Rescue. Jasmine is the subject for the 30 dogs 30 days painting campaign. Klein has been painting portraits of pets since 2001. Most of her commissions include dogs and horses.
