THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Banking On Kids finally comes to Texas and is hosting their Grand Opening with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Friday, February 13 at 1:00pm. Co-founded in 1996 by Oprah Winfrey and, college professor, Dr. Ed Anhalt, Although Banking On Kids has a long standing 19 year track history, it has never come to Texas until now.

Financial literacy for the youth of America has never been more important than now. Proven effective, this system teaches fiscal responsibility via student-run banks in grades K-8, and is being introduced to Texas on Wednesday, March 4 with a Power Lunch for Bankers.

Dr. Ed Anhalt’s Banking On Kids program has inspired the 2015 National Campaign for Financial Literacy across the nation; a multi-media campaign that recognizes the efforts and achievements of individuals, businesses and organizations taking action to educate and empower our youth with financial knowledge. Generation gaps are closing with hopes of a more financially savvy society, as Banking On Kids offers students the first steps toward a stronger money knowledge base.

National Account Director, Lou Garino states, ”Understanding financial terms and being educated about savings and investments and the power of credit in our current society are all crucial skills that are completely overlooked in our school systems and are not generally being learned at home.”

Please join Texas in welcoming Banking On Kids, Wednesday, Mar. 4 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM for a complimentary luncheon buffet. Participants at this milestone event will hear power speakers with valuable points and trends in Community Reinvestment, Public Relations, Charles Nenner Research, and Banking On Kids.

"With Banking On Kids, we are committed to our kids and their future, and to all great things that are happening in our communities," says Garino. "We are looking forward to working with our Texas banks to empower next generation Americans with solid financial education. There is great hope for the future of America in the voting hands of the next generation of a more financially literate society. "
